Everything was starting to come to light about what was really going on. Lisa began to pondered on it. She had to find Lars to talk about it some more, to listen to his side of the story. Deep down she really missed him. She used her spare key and found Lars in the living room. When he caught sight of Lisa he dropped down to his knees begging and pleading for her to forgive him. They talked through all the details and with her arms crossed with a stern look on her face. She thought about what Nick had told her earlier and what Lars claimed happened. "I'm willing to try to get past this, but it will take some time. Next time you have a mission like this, rules or not, you better tell me," she demanded.
"I'm so sorry, I thought I was doing what I had to do, I didn't realize what the outcome would be. I really didn't want to do it. It was ripping me apart the whole time I was away," he told her still down on his knees with his hands covering his face in shame.
Lisa was getting ready to leave, Lars wrapped his arms around Lisa almost crushing her. I have to go away for a bit, the girl on earth is about ready to deliver the baby, and I have to be the one to do it" she told him.
"Before you go, I have something I have been wanting to ask you for a long time. Will you marry me?" Lars asked as he dropped down on one knee. Lisa was shocked by his proposal but finally managed to answer with a "Yes"! Lars slid the ring onto Lisa's finger. "You have made me the happiest man ever" Lars told Lisa. "I have to leave tomorrow for the delivery, I don't know how long I'll be gone" she told him. "I can come with you, will you stay the night" he asked.
So instead of her leaving she slept over at Lars house like she use to many nights. But this one Lars would never forget.
Meanwhile Nick was already back on earth meeting with Jessica. "I'm going to go ahead and tell you the reason I was away for so long. Your not going to like it, he paused....,but I think you have the right to know. I have been pleading with the council to let you keep the baby and raise it," he explained. "Wait, what? You didn't tell me that I would have to give up my child, I would have never agreed to this if I had to," she cried out.
"I don't want to, I know how much this means to me, but I have no choice. I don't know what to do." he tried to tell her as she sobbed. "Please don't cry. I will try to find a way around it. I don't want to take her from you," he told her trying to calm her down. It still wasn't working, Jessica continued to cry. "It won't be long before she will be here. The doctor will arrive shortly for the birth of the baby," he told her.
Jessica let out a big scream as she griped her stomach. Nick came running into the room to see Jessica panting in pain. "Don't you push, lets get you ready to deliver," he instructed Jessica as he lead her to a special room they had prepared for the birth of the baby.
Once Jessica was out of a contraction, Lisa examined her belly to see the progress of the baby.
"It won't be long now, I'm going to go get dressed, Nick will wait with you until I get back," she told Jessica as she hurried out of the room.
Jessica followed Nick into a room that had everything that you would see in a normal hospital. This set her mind at ease a bit until another contraction riped through her body again.
"Please sit down," Nick told Jessica as he helped her onto the bed. "I'm scared," she told nick as she looked over at him. "Lisa is a good doctor, she has delivered many babies, that's why shes here, your going to be alright," he said, trying to calm her down.
Lisa got Jessica to lay down on the bed while she prepared her for the arrival of the baby, Jessica was relaxing a little more now that her pain medication was kicking in, and she knew she was in good hands.
"Will this be like any other birth from my world?" she asked. "Yes your labor and birth is the same as ours. That's why some of you were chosen," she explained to Jessica.
It wasn't long and Jessica's contractions began again, they started coming more often and much more painful.
"I'll be by your side the whole time, if you need anything just ask," he told her as he pulled Jessica's hand into his.
It's time, lets get you undressed and ready to deliver this baby," she told Jessica.
"Ok, lets see how close the baby is to coming out," she told Jessica as she examined her. I see the head, Push when you are ready," she instructed.
Jessica griped her knees in pain as a contraction ripped through her again. Nick tried to comfort her as best he could. "She said it won't be much longer," he told Jessica trying to ease her.
"Ok, Jessica, Push! Push! The baby is coming. A few more pushes and she should come right on out" Lisa instructed Jessica.
Jessica gave some more pushes. Lisa leaned in to catch the baby's head.
A tiny little cry came from the baby, Lisa cleaned her up and placed her in a incubator to get her warm so she could adapt to her new surroundings.
