The Beginning - Chapter One

Hi, my name is Emily, just a regular seventeen-year-old girl in high school in my last year of school. I should be happy to be in my last year of school, but it is just the beginning of becoming an adult with responsibilities that I dread. My parents have been prepping me for the day that I take their place on the throne. I want to be a regular teenager, not a fairy princess with a destiny that I do not want.
I have a twin sister named Hanna, she loves the politics and the royal lifestyle that I try to avoid. I have asked my parents several times to let her be the next heir to the throne, but they have disagreed. They tell me that it is the law that the first of twins be the heir. How I had wished that she would have pushed me out of the way to be first. For now, I have to accept my fate until I find a way to change the laws.
These are my parents, Queen Sophie and King William. They have been ruling for fifteen years. My grandfather was the previous king, which made my dad the heir to the throne. He rules with a kind heart but has a sound judgment when it comes to his people. We have been at peace for over twenty years.
Mark belongs to one of the royal bloodlines. We started dating at the end of my eleventh-grade year. We started off as best friends in school, then decided to date. It was a real pain at first with his popularity that most of the girls began to hate me out of jealousy.
My sister started dating Mark, he is a few years older than my sister. Mark began dating Hanna when he was in his senior, and she was a freshman. My parents were hesitant in letting them date at first, but of course, they love each other and seemed relentless to stay away from each other. So, my parents let them be together. They have been dating for several years now, and well, they are just right for each other.
These are our guardians that were assigned to my sister and me when we turned sixteen. My sister's guardian, named Sandy, was the best choice for my sister. She refused to have a male guardian, so they gave her one of the highest-ranked female guardians from the royal guard. I have seen her in many practice fights, her skills in magic and fighting are impressive. I was assigned two guardians, none of my choosing. My parents picked them from the special guard unit. The special guard unit is made up of guardians that were selected from a young age, then trained to be the royal guardians when they achieved a certain skill level. One of my guardians are Chris, which is hot as fire, straight out of guardian school, is only a few years older than me. His skills as a fighter and his magic ability made him one of the top guardians at a young age. He was the first guardian assigned to me. My second guardian, name Dimitri, was appointed about a year later. Dimitri came from the academy, where he taught martial arts and classes to the new elite guards in training. He was the top elite guard of the royal family, but due to his skills and knowledge, they allowed him to train the new guards. Dimitri had the experience that no one else had ever had when he encounters a nightwalker while at his academy. My father was so impressed with his skills and knowledge, he appointed him to his royal guards.
When and Hanna and I were little, we didn't need personal guards like we do now. We went to school together and were always playing together. We were royal but not that close to the throne at the time. My parents were not king and queen yet. My father's parents were still alive and were the current rulers.
As Hanna and I grew up, we began to developed magic of our own and could do extraordinary things. It was fun, and we got into a lot of trouble.
One night, I asked my mother to read me the story of our origin. My mother was hesitant at first, but she decided she would read it to us. "I'll be right back," she told me as I watched her leave my room. She quickly returned with an old leather-bound book that looked very old. She walked over, then sat down on the edge of my bed. She opened the book with care, then began to scan through the pages until she found what she was looking for. This would be a story that I would never forget.
I was so excited to hear how we became who we were. I settled into bed as my mother started to read. "It started about a hundred years ago," she began." One day, Queen Caroline and King Stephen had a little baby girl. Shortly after the birth of their daughter, they noticed that the baby never cried. Queen Caroline summoned the royal healer to take a look at the baby. Days passed, leaving the queen and king frustrated with no answers on why their daughter's condition seemed to get worse. King Stephen summoned a wizard named Nolan from a faraway land known for his special healing abilities. When the wizard arrived at the castle, the queen and king told him everything they knew about the baby and what all the other healers had tried that failed. Nolan asked Queen Caroline to show him the baby. The queen led the Nolan over to one of her ladies that was holding the baby in her arms. Nolan held out his hands, taking the frail baby into his hands. Nolan looked over the baby with care before he placed the baby down in the cradle. Nolan then asked King Stephen for a sample of the baby's blood so he could test it. King Stephen agreed to let Nolan prick the tiny baby's finger to get a few drops of blood. The king and queen watched Nolan mix the drops of blood into a glass vial that had clear liquid. The liquid turned black, causing Nolan to reach up to stroke his beard. "This is what I feared," Nolan told the king and queen." Can you save our child?" the queen asked the wizard. "I can save her, but I have a request," Nolan told King Stephen." I will do anything if you can save my daughter, "King Stephen told Nolan." Your daughter must marry one of my grandchildren when she becomes of age," Nolan told them. The queen and king were taken off guard with the wizard's request. "If you save my daughter, we will grant your request," the king told the wizard. The queen leaned down to kiss her daughter's head, then moved out of the way of the wizard. Nolan unwrapped the baby, leaving the baby wearing only a cloth around her waist. The king, and queen, watched as Nolan closed his eyes, then started to rub his hands together. Nolan started chanting strange words in a different language. Nolan stomped his foot, then came down quick with his hands over the baby's body. A light burst from his hands into the baby's body. Light-filled the room as the baby's body began to float up from the cradle, making several in the room gasp. No one said a word as they watched in amazement. Nolan slowly placed his hands under the baby as the light faded. A cry filled the room as the baby came to life for the first time since she was born. Queen Caroline burst into tears as the king watched Nolan slowly place the baby back into the cradle. The queen and king walked over to the cradle to look at their daughter. Light radiated from the baby's skin. "Why is she glowing?" Queen Caroline asked Nolan. Nolan reached down, taking the baby into his hands. He then held her up so they could see just what was making the baby appear to glow. The baby had what looked like wings that fluttered, though they were not physical. Beautiful wings radiated from her back." She was born with a weak soul, a body that was slowly dying because her soul was not strong enough. She is now enchanted with the gift of the fairy. Now her soul is strong enough to live. She is now special because she has fairy magic within her soul," Nolan explained to the king and queen.
"There will be many that will not understand her condition. Some will try to do her harm to gain access to what makes her special. She will need to be protected until she the time comes for my grandchild to come and protect her," Nolan told the queen and king. "We will keep her safe," the queen tells the wizard before he left as fast as he came. As she grew up, she developed extraordinary powers. She could float a few feet off the ground, as well as mysterious powers that had many mesmerized. They protected her from the world, hiding her existence from the outside court. When she turned into an adult, she fell in love with a mortal. The wizard was furious when he found out about the princess's love for a mortal. The wizard tried to push for the princess to marry his grandson, but the grandson refused to break up the couple. So, the wizard gave up and allowed the princess to marry the mortal that she fell in love with. The wizard vowed that one day one of his grandsons would marry one of the descendants of the princess fulfilling their agreement. It is said that the guardians are the descendants of the wizard. They are trained in many ways to protect the Fairy people from evil creatures that exist that would do us harm, so we must be protected all the time," her mother told them, as she shut the book." Who would want to harm us, mom," I asked with curiosity. "Are you sure you want to hear about them, I don't want to scare you," she said. "I want to know," I replied with confidence.
"They are called Night Walkers, mystical creatures that are very similar to us. They got their name from their inability to walk in the daylight. Their skin and eyes are so sensitive that the sun could kill them. They are considered the undead, walking the earth with pure evil flowing through their veins. They don't care about anyone, only their desire to devour their prey. You can spot them by their pale skin that has a slight glow, and their eyes are red, and can even glow in certain lighting. They have pointy teeth that they use to bite their victims, to make it easier to drink their blood. Sometimes they turn people to make them Night Walkers, this is achieved by draining their blood, then making the victim drink their blood. They are immortal, never aging. Some people that know about them have asked to be turned so they can become immortal," she told me.
I was scared, hiding my fear as my mother continued with her story. "The guardians had to protect us against the nightwalkers because they were obsessed with our blood. Many have said that our blood was magical, giving them super strength. Our blood causes them to go into a frenzy, draining all of our blood. There are stories told that if one of us was turned, that we would lose our wings, and the magic that makes us special would disappear. Our teeth would become pointy, our skin would change, and our eyes would become red. We would become the undead walking in the darkness of the night, in search of our next prey," she explained.
"I personally had never seen one, but many say that in battles years ago, they were super strong, fast, and deadly. Many that encountered them never got the chance to tell about it. There were a few that managed to survive, to help teach the others how to defend themselves from the nightwalkers. I laid there, trying to imagine it all. I was so glad that we had guardians to protect us from those monsters that my mother had just told me about. I tried to think of what it would be like to see one of them in person only to shudder at the thought of it. I could only hope that I would never have to see them. "Mom, do you think that they could ever hurt us?" I asked with curiosity. "Of course not, we have the best guardians, and they will protect us from them," she told me. I knew this would be a story that would be passed down through the family, it was a story that would be said for years to come.
Without any further questions, my mother tucked my sister in and me and left us to sleep. I tried to stay awake as long as I could, I was afraid that I would see them in my dreams. I must have drifted off to sleep a short time after mom had left. This was the first memory that I had of this story, and I knew that I would visit this story many times in the future.

Introducing Fairytales

Fairytales is a new series that I have started after working on my epic journey with the Medieval Series. I love writing and creating works of art, so I am ready to take you on another ride through twists and turns as you see Emily's life through her eyes.
My name is Emily, I come from a line of royalty, and I'm the next to inherit the throne. My family has ruled for over one hundred years, dating back to the medieval era. I have a twin sister named Hannah that I have enjoyed growing up with. My life has been pretty simple up until now. When I turned seventeen, my life got turned upside down. I was now on the run with one of my guardians, that was one of my best friends. We were being hunted by someone out to kill us, and Chris was trying to keep me safe. I can only start from the beginning for anyone to understand the predicament that we now face. This is where my story begins. A few years ago, when my family lived at the royal court together, we were known as Lightings, a race kept a secret from the human world. We were like humans until a wizard changed one of my ancestors. My parents ruled our kingdom, hidden far from the human world. All I ever wanted was to live a simple life, not be the next ruler of the kingdom. At the palace, we had guardians that watched over the royal family, or so I thought. The nightmare that ripped my world apart began with them. They call them Night Walkers.
Chris carried me as I screamed and cried. Tears ran down my face, and I was covered in blood, not my blood, the blood of innocent people that I knew for sure was dead.
Hearing footsteps closing in, Chris put me down and starts dragging me by the hand. He was fast, and keeping up was almost impossible. We had to get away or they would kill us.
We ran for the woods, hoping to lose them. We could only pray that we could outrun them.

Cold Hearted - Chapter Ninety Nine

Annabell found Nolan on the dance floor. "I'm going to put my little brother to bed when I find him. He's running around here somewhere. I'll be back soon," she told him as she walked off.

Little Jamie was running through the halls bored of the party already. He was trying to find something to get into. Knowing everyone was outside, he was sure to get away with anything. As he rounded a corner, he heard his name being called.

For fun, Jamie hid under the table, thinking it was a fun game.

The man must have been a guard. As he approached closer to the table, Jamie could see his boots. "Jamie, where are you. Your parents are looking for you," he called out.

Little Jamie crawled out from underneath the table to find that the guard had a knife in his hand. This scared Jamie when he looked up to see that the man didn't look that nice either. Jamie started to scoot back toward the wall as the man started to come at him. "I thought my parents were looking for me," Jamie choked out.

Jamie kept scooting, and it became clear that this guy wasn't nice. "Oh, did I say that," he told Jamie with a smirk on his face? Jamie knew he had to get away as fast as he could. Jamie kicked the guard in the leg, throwing him off balance allowing him time to get to his feet and run out the door.

It didn't take the guard long to recover and was fast after Jamie.

As soon as he got close enough, he slashed Jamie in the back, causing a long gash that caused stinging pain to shoot through Jamie's back. Jamie staggered, falling to his knees to only feel the blade pierce his back, digging deep into his flesh. A few more sharp pains and the world started to spin. Jamie struggled to breathe, only to find that he couldn't catch his breath. After a few moments, Jamie's world went dark.

The guard picked Jamie's lifeless body up and took it to a cell in the dungeon that was not occupied. No one would know to look for the boy there. He could hide him there until he could find a way to hide the child's body later. Feeling guilty for taking a young life, he gently laid the boy down that appeared to be only sleeping. He kept telling himself over and over that it was for the best that these creatures of the night be destroyed.

When Annabell walked into the room, she was grabbed up by the throat suspended in the air as her feet kicked to reach the ground. Struggling to breathe while trying to pry the hand that was wrapped around her throat, she was helpless to do anything.

"Time to die, the queen sends her regards," he laughed at her as he tightened his grip around her throat. Annabell gasped for air that would not come and soon blacked out.

Her body slumped, hitting the ground hard with a thud. She laid there unconscious and not breathing.

The guard picked her lifeless body up from the floor and headed to the dungeon just as he had told Kristen.

Annabell finally came to, to find herself laying on a cold floor covered in straw. She jumped to her feet to see the same man that attacked her earlier, coming at her with a knife. She couldn't react fast enough before he reached her.

A sharp pain shot through her. She looked down at the knife sticking in her stomach. Shocked with the site of the blood started to seep around the knife, she couldn't move. The guard then twisted the knife some more, making the wound bigger. Blood poured through the wound when the knife was pulled out. Slumping to the ground, she fell, landing in the straw. The straw became red with the stain of her blood that spilled through her wound. She soon became limp as the life slipped from her body.

Nolan went from room to room, trying to figure out where Annabell and Jamie could be. He had already checked their bedrooms to find no one there. So where would he look if he was a kid playing in a big castle?

Nolan made his way down to the dungeon.

When he walked around the corner, he saw Annabell lying in a pool of blood on the floor. Nolan ran over to Annabell. Dropping to his knees, he began to wake her.

"Annabell! Annabell! Please don't go, don't you leave me. I love you," he cried out as he stroked her face. Her ghostly look only brought more tears to his eyes when he realized she was truly gone.

Then without warning, Nolan heard the sound of someone approaching by the sound of the straw under their feet. Leaping up, he was greeted by the guard that was swinging a knife. Nolan dodged the attack without any injury. The guard stopped looking at Nolan. "You will not win. They didn't stand a chance, nor will you," he laughed at Nolan as he charged him with the knife again.

Nolan didn't say anything. He threw up his hands while chanting something. The guard froze right in his steps. "You underestimated me. You will be the one to feel the pain. You have innocent blood on your hands, and you will pay," Nolan told him in a cold tone.

Then with another swing of hands, the guard fell down and curled up in a fetal position. Screaming with agony was all he could do. "Pain, do you feel it? Your pain for taking an innocent life," he mocked the guard.

Then Nolan cast another spell and watched the life leave his body. The horror was only unfolding for Nolan. As he dragged the guard into the room to hide him, that's when he discovered little Jamie's body.

When he propped the guard up against the wall as if he was sleeping, Running over to him, Nolan tried to wake him, only to find out that Jamie was cold and unresponsive. When he rolled him over, he could see the wounds that Jamie had on his back. Nolan fell down to his knees and began to cry. He had not only lost his best friend and love, now he was looking at Jamie that he had known since he was a baby.

Nolan then left the guard and little Jamie in the cell and went back to Annabell. Pulling her up from the floor, he pulled her into his arms, burying his face in her hair as he cried. He couldn't believe she was gone. He started to blame himself for not listening to her when she came to him about her grandmother's plots. Now it was all too real, she was taken, and he could do nothing to bring her back. Or could he?

Nolan choked back his tears, lifting Jamie up to take him where his sister's body was resting on a table. He laid Jamie next to Annabell. Staring at them both, he was grief-stricken at the thought that someone could do such a horrible thing. He had to fix this, and the book was the key.

Nolan desperately looked for a spell to restore Annabell and Jamie back to life. He searched through the thick book of spells. When he finally comes across a spell to keep a soul from crossing over. He quickly gathered all the ingredients that were needed for the spell and went to work.

Mixing them in the order that it described, he began to put it together as he recited the spell on each step.

After everything was added, the mysterious liquid glowed a purple color. Nolan took a glass vial out and filled it up.

Walking over to Annabell and Jamie, that laid on the table lifeless. Nolan opened Jamie's mouth and poured in some of the potion, then did the same to Annabell. Within a few minutes, they went transparent, not moving at all. Nolan stumbled backward in shock of their appearance. Wondering if he did something wrong or messed the spell up, Jamie started to move.

Little Jamie leaped off the table and took one look at Annabell lying on the table, all gray and see-through. He began to scream, but Nolan was there to calm him. "Shh, Jamie, it's me, Nolan. Don't be scared," he told Jamie as he stepped closer to him. "I'm dead, that awful man.................." Jamie mumbled. "No, your not. You're just in between worlds until I can find a way to restore you and your sister back to the way you were. This was the only thing I could think of until I can find the right spell," he explained to Jamie that still looked frightened. Moments later, Annabell started to move.

When Annabell finally came to, she saw that little Jamie was crying. Shocked by his appearance and looking down at her hands to find out that she was in the same condition, she slid off the table and began to comfort her little brother."Don't cry, Jamie. You're not alone, and we are clearly not completely dead. Nolan will fix this, and mom and dad don't need to find out yet. "It was horrible, Annabell. That terrible man, he.....stabbed me in the back, I felt the blood pouring out and then everything went black. And now, look at me, I'm transparent, and I feel weird," he told her. "I know, I feel the same way too. That man stabbed me too, but we are very lucky to be like this and not meeting death completely. After she managed to get Jamie to settle down, he went off into another room so Annabell and Nolan could think of a plan.

"What are we going to do?" she asked. "Look at me, I'm dead. I told you that she was up to no good. That man told me that the queen sends her regards before choking me to near death and then finishing the job with a knife to the stomach," she explained. "I don't know, I found this one in panic. I know there has to be a spell in there somewhere to resurrect the dead or something," he replied.

"We have to come up with a plan so that me and Jamie can hide until we can find a way to fix this. If they see us like this, then everything that we worked so hard for will be for nothing, and of course, mom and dad will freak out," she told him. "I know, I'll make up an excuse while you look through the book to see if you can find something until I get back," Nolan told Annabell.

When Nolan left, Annabell began to search the book in hopes of finding a solution. The text was hard to read through, and she knew Nolan would find something much faster than she could. All she could do was hold on to some hope that she could find something and fast.

Nolan went upstairs to see if anyone might be missing them. The party was coming to an end. "Oh Nolan, there you are. Have you seen Annabell or Jamie?" James asked.

"Oh yeah, she took him out to play. They will be back in a bit. If you would allow it, I thought that Jamie and Annabell could come with me to give you and Amelia some time to yourselves. We were going to head over to visit my parent's house. If you don't mind," Nolan asked, almost holding his breath. "Sure, I"ll tell Amelia, so she doesn't worry. You know her. She does that a lot," James giggled.

Annabell took the vial into her hands and drank it.

After a few seconds, Annabell drank the potion. She was hit with a pain that was unreal, almost as bad as when she was stabbed. Her transparent body began to flicker as if she threatened to disappear. Then suddenly...............she vanished.

With a flash of light that stunned Nolan, Annabell reappeared. Her body was restored like it was before she was dead, but with one twist. She was no longer a wondering soul of the undead. She was alive.

"Am I real? I feel real, but do I look real?" Annabell asked Nolan with a worried look on her face. "Of course your real," he replied as he stroked her cheek. "Not only are you real, but you are also just like me," he told her. "What do you mean?' she asked, confused. "Your skin is warm and pink, your eyes are no longer golden, but brown. Your not cursed as they would call it," he told her.

Little Jamie was next to take the potion. Annabell tried to prepare him for the pain. Jamie drank the potion, and with the same results, was restored back to life.

Jamie ran to Annabell with hurt and relief flooding his emotions. What if that bad man comes back and kills us again," Jamie asked. "No one will ever hurt us again. I will protect you from all that would do us harm," she reassured him. "But why did he want me dead?" Jamies asked. "Not sure, but I think I have an idea. No need to worry, your big sister will take care of it," she replied.

Annabell scooped Jamie up into her arms, hugging him tightly. "I love you, sis," he whispered. "I love you too.

Nolan pulled Annabell into his arms. Revenge will be ours," he told her. "Yes, a horrible fate," she replied.
