Julia And Isabel Are Put To Death - Chapter Fifty Seven

The day Isabel and Julia had dreaded had finally come. The iron door slid open, and a guard walked in. The executioner, dressed in a black cloak that hid his face, stood at the door.

Isabel grabbed Julia's hand when the guard came closer. "It's time," he told them. Julia's heart sank, and she began to tremble with fear. She knew what was about to happen. She watched them execute Derick. "Please, no, will the queen not spare us. I beg Her Majesty for forgiveness," Julia cried. "It's ok, my dear child. We knew this day was coming. I'll be with you no matter what happens, we will be together," Isabell said as she griped her hand tight.

Julia rubbed the tears from her eyes as she walked out of the cell. The guards escorted them out of the dungeon. Isabel followed Julia as she controlled the fear she was trying to hide from her daughter.

The guards escorted Julia and her mother to the scaffold. As soon as Julia saw it, she began to come to tears. It only brought back memories of when she was made to watch Derick die. "No, no, no, no," Julia screamed as she tried to run away. The guards grabbed her and led her back to the platform.

Two nuns stood there, sent to help Julia and Isabel prepare their souls before they died. They peered down at Julia and Isabel and could only feel pity for them.

"You are to go first! Julia will go last; she has to watch you die." the guard told Isabel. This was a big shock to Isabel for her daughter to experience another loved one die before her eyes. "Please, sir, do not let her see me die; spare her this horror. She has suffered enough for her crimes," Isabel begged. "The queen gave us orders that we can not go against. You must go first," the guard told Isabel as he led her to the steps.

Isabel tried to keep her composure as she walked up the steps to the scaffold. She could only hope that their deaths would be quick.

"My child, repent your sins and give your soul to God. Be brave; it will pass fast," the nun told her. Isabel was at a loss for words and couldn't even think. She nodded and then put her head down, choking back the tears that threatened her.

Isabel started to lose her nerve as her body began to tremble.

She walked over to the stone that was still stained with blood from others before her. She leaned over and tried to get prepared for her death. She looked up once at her daughter and whispered, "I love you." Julia was in horror as she watched her mother put her head on the stone and place her hands on the sides. "When you are ready, let me know," the executioner said, taking his position beside the stone with his sword in hand.

Isabel trembled as she tried to brace herself for the blow of the blade. "I'm ready," Isabel said as she closed her eyes. His sword came down quickly, taking her head off easy. Julia in horror watched her mother's head drop into the basket like Derick's. Her body was still jerking as it hit the ground. Julia began to scream.

Julia couldn't take no more. She collapsed to the ground and began to mumble to herself. It almost sounded like Julia had gone mad. "You have to get up!" the guard told her. He bent down and helped her up. She was barely able to stand. The guard helped her up the steps and over to the stone.

Julia collapsed next to her headless mother. She felt her whole body go numb; the fear ripped through her like a hot iron.

The guards made her stand and prepare herself for her life to be taken. She stumbled, but the guard was there to steady her. Julia looked down at the bloody stone that was now covered in her mother's blood.

"When you're ready, bend down and put your hands by your side. Hold very still, and it will be over quickly," the executioner told her.

Julia put her trembling hands to her side and closed her eyes. The anticipation of the blade was almost ready to unravel her. She tried to focus and think of Derick, her mother, and Daniel and their good times together. The only comfort she had was her son would be spared and given a second chance at life.

The executioner's sword came down swiftly and took Julia's head off. Her head fell into the basket, and her body fell to the ground, jerking for only a few moments.

The guards then placed Julia's and Isabel's bodies into the wooden boxes. Once they sealed them, they loaded them onto a wagon that was prepared to carry them away to the graveyard. Kristen was then notified that Julia and Isabel were now dead. Now, all the queen had to do was decide what to do with Daniel.
